We have an extensive private collection for sale. A rare opportunity to own one or a group of these rare and interesting prints. They are wonderful simply as a piece of Art - when you consider their story as well, and the notes of the Gould party that accompanies each one, you will see these make fabulous gifts for your self and others, for any home or office.
In 1848 Joh Gould and his wife Elizabeth, along with an assortment of professionals, illustrators and carers, left England on a tall ship for Australia and beyond. Their task was to document all the birds and animals of Her Majesties New Territories.
Image the conditions with limited resources as they travelled Australia and New Zealand over a number of year. The original lithographs were sent back to England from time to time, where the Museum of Natural History reproduced Limited Edition bound prints for the John Gould appreciation society, which in turn raised funds for his research. These prints are mainly from these books. Only 250 of these books were made.
